A fascinating world of form and structure surrounds us, and not everything in it we can see.
The scanning electron micrograph of a simple water drop reveals the presence of unidentified organisms. Though bacteria, protozoa, trophozoites and algae found in untreated waters are harmless, there are many that are pathogenic, even to humans and animals.
The PHIL image library of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention contains a huge selection of electron micrograph imagery, which is in the public domain. Colorization done with Photoshop layers and layer masks.
